There is no news peg here and this piece will not manufacture one. The consolidation that matters happened in 2025 and has not been undone since, which is exactly why it deserves an assessment rather than a headline: the shape of the official-data layer is now a standing condition of the scene, and we have never sat down and graded it.
The shelf, as the vendor lists it today
Every line in that table is GRID’s own wording or GRID’s own figure, all of it self-reported. Read it as a menu, not a measurement.
How the market got this shape
The sequence is a 2025 sequence. Per esports.net’s September 2025 write-up, Bayes Esports filed for insolvency in May 2025 and had entered the court-ordered process by the time The Esports Advocate reported it that August; GRID had by then taken on Bayes’ exclusive Riot Games and Esports World Cup contracts. Yogonet reported on 24 September 2025 that GRID acquired Bayes’ IP assets outright — a decade of live data trading solutions, prediction models and fan-engagement tooling — and folded them into GRID Bet, which the vendor describes as its regulated esports betting solution. That is the company’s phrase for a B2B product sold into regulated markets, reported by trade press. It is not a statement that GRID holds a gambling licence anywhere, and nobody should read it as one.
Stack that on GRID’s pre-existing Riot and ESL relationships and you get the sentence esports.net wrote: GRID “now controls the majority of the official esports data industry.” Majority, not monopoly. Abios (now folded into Kambi Group’s sportsbook business) and PandaScore are still selling, still shipping product — we covered one of them doing exactly that in PandaScore’s Call of Duty kills prop. The distinction is worth holding onto, because the lazy version of this story is the wrong one.
What “official” is actually buying
It buys the server, not the screen. Official server-side telemetry is a different instrument from a scraper watching a broadcast: less delay to arbitrage, fewer rounds missed because the observer was on the wrong player, less scope for silent divergence between what happened and what a parser thought happened. For an in-play market on a CS2 map, that gap is the entire product.
The Open Access tier reads least like a sales pitch. GRID gives away CS2 and Dota 2 API access to academics, independent developers, fans and pre-revenue startups, and says it supports over 250 projects across ten-plus categories. It is also the cheapest acquisition funnel in the sector: students who learn on official schemas become the analysts who buy them.
The cost, named plainly
Concentration at the data layer is not a pricing problem. It is a correlation problem.
Rushzone is the clean illustration, and GRID says so itself: the product page bills it as the first GRID Bet product to bundle every core betting element into one solution — odds, data, stream and widgets — over what the page claims is 500-plus competitive maps a month. From the operator’s side that is one integration instead of four. From an integrity side it means the odds, the settlement source, the video the trader is watching and the anomaly signal on top of it can all originate inside a single vendor. When those four things come from four suppliers, disagreement between them is information. When they come from one, disagreement is impossible by construction.
Second: an operator that dislikes the terms attached to Riot or Esports World Cup official data has nowhere equivalent to walk. Alternatives exist at the supplier level, not at the rights level for those specific competitions, because rights are exclusive by design. That is a rights-holder decision as much as a vendor one, and the publishers who sold exclusivity own their share of it.
Both columns
Verdict
What would move that score is not a new product. It is an independent audit of the feed’s accuracy, and Open Access terms published where a lawyer could read them.
The scene built the demand for this. Every stat overlay we asked for runs on somebody’s official feed, and the bill arrived as market structure. Worth knowing whose server your bet settles against. And where betting is what is meant: 18 and over, licensed sportsbooks only, availability varying by jurisdiction, a limit set before the map loads. Gamble responsibly — begambleaware.org.
